A Fire Pump House is a dedicated structure or room that houses the entire fire pump system, including pumps, controllers, valves, and accessories essential for delivering high-pressure water to a building’s fire protection system (sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels).

🏗️ What Is a Fire Pump House?

A Fire Pump House (also called a Fire Pump Room) is a secure, ventilated, and accessible enclosure—either inside a building or as a standalone building—constructed to comply with fire safety standards. It provides a safe and controlled environment for operating the fire pumps during emergencies.

Fire Jockey Pump (also called a Pressure Maintenance Pump) is a small-capacity pump used in fire fighting systems to maintain pressure in the fire sprinkler/hydrant piping network. Its main role is to prevent unnecessary starts of the main fire pumps (electric or diesel) due to minor pressure drops in the system.

⚙️ What Is a Fire Jockey Pump?

A Jockey Pump automatically turns on when it detects a slight drop in system pressure, typically caused by:

  • Small leaks

  • Thermal expansion/contraction

  • Routine testing

It keeps the system primed and ready without triggering the main fire pump, which is only activated during a real fire event.
